Coffee
Coffee
One thing Portland is known for is its coffee, and -- if the truth be told -- coffee drinkers in Portland are both a little bit addicted and a little bit snobbish about their caffeine drink of choice. As a result, P-town is home to some of the most unique, most interesting and most delicious coffee places around. This week’s song, “Coffee,” is a tribute to those wild-eyed folks you see on your commute to work each day.
For the record, the three places mentioned in this song are:
Lyrics:
I walked into Stumptown Coffee to start my day off right.
A double espresso did the trick -- removed the cobwebs of the night.
Now I’m set for my whole day, just needed that morning fix.
I don’t need another cup. Or two. Or three. Or six.
Coffee in Portland runs through my veins.
Coffee in Portland: better than blood.
Coffee in Portland, how can I explain?
I think that I’m in love!
I walked into Jim and Patty’s in the middle of the day.
A little reboost -- a kick in the pants -- I ordered a grande latte.
Now I can go back to work, plop down at my desk and sit.
Just needed a little refresher -- it’s not like I can’t quit.
Coffee in Portland runs through my veins.
Coffee in Portland: better than blood.
Coffee in Portland, how can I explain?
I think that I’m in love!
My friends say it’s an addiction,
They worry about my health.
So now I drink alone sometimes,
And get my caffeine jolt by stealth.
I walked into Rimsky-Korsakoffee sometime late at night.
Just one last taste before I sleep: a double mocha delight.
I’m feeling good, I’m feeling strong, like I could do anything.
A little jittery, perhaps, but my step has that special spring.
Coffee in Portland runs through my veins.
Coffee in Portland: better than blood.
Coffee in Portland, how can I explain?
I think that I’m in love!
Coffee. Coffee! COFFEE!
