How I Spell Portland
How I Spell Portland
A short but sweet song (if I’m honest, this one was written and recorded in haste on the way out the door for Memorial Day weekend) about everyone’s favorite Portland. If you know your classic jazz standards, you know that this one is fairly well ripped off of the song “L-O-V-E,” at least in theme. But I hope this week’s song, “How I Spell Portland,” is still an enjoyable one for all. Happy long weekend!
Lyrics:
P is for progressive people and, plainly put, perfection.
O because we’re in Oregon with its outstanding outdoor stops.
R is for our roses, and the rivers that run rippling.
T we’re trailblazers, our tram and our transit are tops.
L’s for Lombard, Lovejoy and Lincoln, lanes of large renown.
A is for Alberta and Alameda, the arts and attractions there.
N we’re the nicest neighbors a neighbor could ever need.
D means darn, we’re the dandiest dwelling, from Dundee to Delaware.
P-O-R-T-L-A-N-D,
That’s how I spell Portland.
P-O-R-T-L-A-N-D,
Portland’s got me under its spell!
