I Want To Go Shopping
I Want To Go Shopping
I’m not exactly sure where this song came from, to be honest. I think I just started singing the main chorus line, and then the rest of the song came. (It’s not a subconscious desire to actually go out and start spending, really!) Anyway, whatever the source, this week’s song, “I Want To Go Shopping,” is a fun little ditty with a healthy dose of escapism. (Financial crisis? What financial crisis?!) Enjoy!
Lyrics:
It’s Saturday morning. I’ve worked all week.
It’s raining in Portland, the clouds look so bleak.
Roll out of my bed slowly -- my knees, they give a creak.
This feeling is familiar. I know just what I seek…
I want to go shopping! Take me to Northwest 23rd!
I want to go shopping, pay prices that are absurd.
I don’t care about the economy, I just want my voice to be heard:
“I want to go shopping”: Portland, that’s the word!
Start at Burnside by the giant Gap, and walk my way up north.
The shops and boutiques are so hip and chic, I smile as I go forth.
It feels so good to be doing this, rain can’t dampen my spirits now,
The day’s looking up, my mood is flying, and I just have to say “Wow!”
I want to go shopping! Pioneer Place is next for me!
I want to go shopping, four levels of jubilee.
I don’t care about the financial crash, I just love a shopping spree:
I want to go shopping, now who couldn’t agree?
Pull out your credit card, this couldn’t be greater,
We’ll buy some great stuff now and pay for it later!
I want to go shopping, Southwest Fifth I’ll serenade.
I want to go shopping, make my own Macy’s parade.
I don’t care about my credit, I just think I need that suede!
I want to go shopping -- I’m unconcerned for how this will get paid.
I want to go shopping: I’m a one-person commerce crusade!
I want to go shopping: this is how my day is made!
